Care

WE FEEL A DEEP COMMITMENT TO THE ONGOING CARE OF OUR PRODUCTS, EVEN AFTER THEY HAVE LEFT OUR STUDIO. THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS WILL HELP YOU TO PROPERLY CARE AND MAINTAIN YOUR DUNN FURNISHINGS.

Wood

Our wood finishes provide a durable protective coating to the surface and penetrate deep into the wood. Dirt, spills, and regular ware are best attended to as they happen. Use a dry or lightly dampened cotton cloth to clean. Never use solvent-based cleaners. Do not store in damp or extreme temperature environments. Never set wet objects or hot objects directly on wood surfaces. It may be necessary to use an oil, wax, or oil and wax combination conditioner to revive the brilliance and re-protect your wood furniture. Follow manufacturer instructions and always test on a hidden area first.

Glass, Sealed Metal, Powder-Coated Metal

Use a duster or dry, soft cloth to gently clean. Wet cleaning can leave streaks and particulate matter, however wet cleaning will not hurt the piece if more aggressive cleaning is necessary. Never use solvent-based cleaners. Glass cleaners and conditioners can be used on glass; be sure to use formulations meant for transparent glass as those not meant for transparent glass can leave the surface foggy. Quickly follow the application of a cleaner or conditioner by polishing with a dry cloth. Do NOT use metal cleaners on sealed metals as they can strip the sealer. Please contact us if you are unsure if your metal surfaces are sealed or note.

Unfinished Metals

Use a duster or dry, soft cloth to gently clean. Wet cleaning can leave streaks and particulate matter or cause unfinished metals to rust or tarnish. Metal cleaners and conditioners can be used; be sure to use formulations meant for the specific type of metal as those not meant for that specific type of metal might alter the appearance and color of the metal. Quickly follow the application of a cleaner or conditioner by polishing with a dry cloth. Please contact us if you are unsure if your metal surfaces are sealed or not.

Fabric Care

Pillow covers are washable. Hand wash, cold water only. Machine dry on low temperature, iron if necessary. We highly recommend using Synthrapol detergent. This product is a surfactant that suspends any excess dye that has not been flushed out in the water. The excess dye will not re-attach to other fibers as long as you add Synthrapol to your wash.

Leather

Use a duster or dry, soft cloth to gently clean. Our leathers are protected with a layer of wax, so a lightly damp cloth can also be used if more aggressive cleaning is necessary. It may be necessary to use a leather conditioner to revive the brilliance and re-protect your leather components. Follow manufacturer instructions and always test on a hidden area first.
